The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course delivers the essential principles, skills and knowledge to maintain or restore breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant. The course content is based on the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this course; however, it is recommended that participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the CPR training.

If you are under 18 please make sure you  download & print this form, ask your parent or guardian to sign the form and bring it on the day. We are unable to have under 18’s in our public classes without a parent consent form.

Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments at floor level. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes on your knees.

Note: Please wear closed in shoes and appropriate clothing. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian (if attending one of our public courses).

Course Content

  • Recognise an emergency situation
  • Legal Issues and infection control
  • Assessing the casualty and recognising the need for CPR
  • Emergency action plan – DRSABCD
  • Plan an appropriate first aid response
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Adult, Infant and child CPR rates and techniques
  • One and two-person CPR techniques
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Duration

This CPR course is run over a period of 2 hours face-to-face. There is a pre-course online learning task to complete prior to attending. All training and assessment activities are conducted during face-to-face training.

Assessment

This course is assessed through online activity, demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.

Certificates are issued the same day, providing the online theory has been completed and attendance to the practical training. Certificates are emailed to the email provided during enrolment.

*Please note, it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor. Please advise us prior to the course if you are unable to kneel on the floor.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the following unit of competence:

Workplace onsite training including Sydney – Central Coast – Newcastle – Hunter Valley right up to the Sunshine Coast QLD. If your school, company or group are not located in those regions please contact us to confirm.

Validity

One (1) year from date of course. It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that you update your CPR skills every 12 months.

Our comprehensive student management system will remind you approximately 1-2 months before your CPR or First Aid Certificate is due to be refreshed.
