With instruction and practical training in line with legal, workplace and community considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies, this first aid course(HLTAID011) teaches the skills and knowledge to recognise emergencies and provide immediate and effective first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury.

The HLTAID011 course encompasses a comprehensive range of first aid skills. Firstly, it covers assessing the casualty and ensuring safety. Additionally, it involves accessing emergency services and utilizing resources to provide first aid. For instance, this includes performing CPR, using a defibrillator, and administering an autoinjector for anaphylaxis. Moreover, it covers providing asthma medication and assisting with choking. Furthermore, it teaches applying appropriate immobilization techniques for envenomations, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains. Finally, it addresses managing casualties with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock.

Under this course(HLTAID011)you will learn basic anatomy, physiology and the differences between adults, children and infants relating to CPR, the importance of the chain of survival, written and verbal reporting of incident details, reviewing incidents to improve own skills and response times, to recognise psychological impacts, and seeking help as required.

Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, table or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/pre-course studies. The preferred browser is Google Chrome.

You will be required to scan a QR code on your mobile device on the day of your training.

Certificate Renewal Requirements

This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 36 months, with HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation being refreshed annually.

Assessment Activities

Theory assessment

A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. This must be completed prior to the class online, we recommend you use a large screen as mobile phones are difficult to see the volume of content. 

The estimated time for your online work is from 2.5 hours or more depending on you.

During this time you can rewatch videos if you choose to and work at your own pace. You can complete your online work a little at a time if that works better for you.
